Quick Anger Tip 14 – Listen to improve understanding

Sometimes,we become angry toward other people because we we don’t understand them and don’t understand how they can do or not do things we consider stupid, irrational, and misguided.

Empathy is the skill of seeing the world from the other person’s point of view, even if you don’t agree with it. Things often make a lot more sense if you understand where the other is coming from and his or her reasons for their behavior.

The place is start is with your listening. Many of us listen with “filters” which distort things. Instead, try to truly understand what the other is trying to get you to understand. If you are successful, you may notice your anger level decreasing quite a bit.
